the leg shaving trick is more for post crash infections. if you have hair on your legs then road rash tends to get infected much more easily. if a rider has shaved legs and crashes then he/she can just paint some "second skin" over top and live happier. if a infection starts due to the bacteria that hangs out on hair follicles then its a real drag.

the downside is the major flack a guy takes for having shaved legs.
