Hi Mike,

I'd check to make sure the starter gear is lined up with the teeth on the bellhousing correctly. Hopefully, taking the starter off won't be as bad as with the WBX. If you can get if off, any FLAPS should be able to test it for you.

I'd be careful about leaving the key on for a long time, you're sending a boat load of current through your ignition switch, wires, etc. when you do that. A solenoid/motor that isn't moving is basically a short circuit...
