References to any vanagon mechanic or someone experinced with the 5 cylinder vw quantum ('87, Sedan) would be appreciated. the car stands lifeless near the marin fairgrounds in san raphael (CA, Bay Area) after the driver overfilled the cooling reservoir with antifreeze. symptoms: turning the ignition key triggers rapid clicking of fuse box relay (?#17 stamp on it). the red engine indicator lights either come on faint, or become faint, or start faint and become strong. battery charge normal yet starter will not engage when ignition switch turned fully. notice tachometer needle jumps to 2-3k rpm as you turn the ignition switch; after which all engine leds die. (bad coil ?) disconnected radiator fan electrical connector. found inside housing to be wet. wiped clean. tried starting car with(out) fan motor connector plugged in and starter still fails to engage. somehow i'd like to get the car back home (albany) without having to have the car serviced by the dealer in san raphael. thanks in advance, walter
