"Let he who has not sinned cast the first stone."

Please, let's forgive and forget. To me, the much-criticized listee is a pretty darned good guy who got riled up, and said a very bad thing in a public forum, - I suspect - because his judgement was temporarily "impaired."

I am laying good odds that it won't happen again, and we should cut him a bit of slack already.

Wouldn't we all want a bit of slack "to be cut" when we screw up?

I remember that my grandfather used to say: "There was a perfect man once, and just look at what they did to him".
