Harold,

First, check to make certain the seals are in serviceable condition, then
thoroughly clean, lube and adjust all of the sunroof mechanism.  To gain
access to the hardware on the panel, do not remove the headliner from the
car.  Instead, pop the fasteners and slide the headliner to the rear of the
van.  The front of the panel has guides which are shimmed.  Unless the panel
had previous work, it is unlikely that the shimming needs redone,  At the
rear of the panel are mechanisms to which the cables are attached.  These not
only pull the roof to and fro, but they are over-center doobies which also
lift the rear of the panel to seat it.

Since you will undoubtedly be opening and closing the roof countless times
before you arrive at a proper adjustment, it is wise to remove the operator
crank mechanism and simply slide the roof directly by hand.  In fact, once
the headliner is out of the way, the roof can be operated and fully seated by
hand should the cables fail.

If the cables have ever been lubed at all, they are most likely serviceable,
although, I would check the operator pinion for wear.
