I just painted my mirrors and rear louvers with semigloss black. They look great! The bumper ends I just cleaned w/ a strong purple cleaner that eats old build up and a stiff brush.

My girlfriend also gave me a hard time as I did this and taunted me with, "vanagon geeeeek!" every so often from the house. I love it!
