Stan,

Yep! And as I said "often right", but certainly not a trustworthy reference. One of the best things about the I-4 engine conversions is that, in spite of themselves, they published a real manual for the 88-92 A2 series. BTW, the Audi 5000, the Quantum and the diesel manuals are the same low quality. Collection of shop notes at best!

Just as a further example, the Digifant I and II discussions in the VW Pro Training Books (I have copies, and Darrell has them on his site) offer a modest insight with some troubleshooting tips. None of this information made it to the Bentley. On the other hand the Vanagon supplement that VW issued to its dealers when the diesel version was introduced is identically the same material that is in the Bentley on the diesel. So near as I can tell, the last Bentley Vanagon Diesel information update is prior to 8/81.

So, Karl is dead on, include the page numbers in the veracity list, at least most of them are sequential!

Frank Grunthaner
