Top lever Distribution. left floor, right demist 2nd Lever Heat, left off, right on 3rd lever Air, left on, right off 4th lever Rear vents same as above > > Issue 2: Hard starting and rich running.

Check your FI system per the troubleshooting charts. All can be verified with a VOM at the ECU connector. Most likely a fuzzy connection at the temp sensor at the thermostat. Also clean the ground wires on top of cyl #4.

I get between 19 and 24 mpg.

Put the correct 6 or 8 ply tires on it. I'll bet you a dollar that it's got Passenger rated tires on it. Remember though, it's not an A6. It's a one ton truck. However, it will spin before it falls over. For shocks, you're going to find that Bilsteins are not an option. KYB (too stiff), OME (even stiffer) or the stock Boge are your best options. Bilstein doesn't make shocks for it. I have Monroe Gas-a-justs on mine and have been happy with them for nearly 60k miles.

Boneyard. You'll find the toolbag under the driver's seat in most cases.

Look in the Tech section at <http://vanagon.com> this question is a FAQ. Short story: Machine the centers of your Passat wheels but realize that they're probably 1.) the wrong offset and 2.) significantly weaker than the stock wheels. In the past I've gone to custom wheel builders. If there's a sizable racing fraternity in your area, ask them. They'll know who makes wheels locally.

Most all this info should be readily available in your dealership's service department.

Jim
