On my Syncro the spindle (outer axle that's held in place by the big nut) was secured with Loctite. It had to be pressed out. I rented a "hub puller" at my local FLAPS (Kragen) for $6 something. It was real easy with this tool to get the spindle out. I heard reports from others where the spindle was not secured with Loctite and come right out.

Good luck, Peter
