Subject: Do 195/75 R14 Tires fit in the spare tire carrier for 185 R 14
              tires

I have a 90 Westy. I need new tires and I am thinking of putting on the Kirkland brand from Costco - a light truck tire - which is 195/75 R 14. Right now I have 185 R 14 tires all round and that's the way she came originally.

I know the late model Vanagons came with 2 different spare tire carriers and tension rods depending on which size wheel was fitted. Either 205/70 R 14 or 185 R 14.

So ... can I squeeze in the Costco tires that so many seem to like or do I have to upgrade to the larger spare tire carrier and tension rods and sleeve the rods or something to take the 195/75 tires??

Thanx

Rich 90 Westy Vancouver BC
