Subject: 2 liter rebuild with FI problems
Comments: To: type2@type2.com

Volks, Recently finished 2 liter rebuild for my 81 vanagon. Eurospec car, so formerly carbed, I put FI on it.....a stock used setup.

Yesterday, van started up and idled fine, but had little power. Took it for about a 10 mile run, and let it cool down until this morning.

Adjusted the valves, all lifters now pumped up, and now car will not hold idle...it konks out. More power, but not 100 % yet.....car runs hot...350 head temp, 110 C on oil, and only 20 lbs of oil pressure at 3500.

The AFM came off of my other (running) 81, as did the ballast resistor. The rest of the system I believe came from a late 70's loaf. Swapped ACU's with 2 spares I had in the shop, and no new results; swapped injector wires between 3 and 4/1 and 2 and same results...............took off vacuum advance stock dizzy and put 050 on...same results.............

Engine sounds like it is running rough. No knocking, no rocking from side to side, just not smooth.

Please pmail any serious replies!

TIA Adam Puzerewski
