I know this thing can be replaced with a golf clock from a junkyard (details in vanagon.com) but since mines a globbly looking non clock and theres no guarantee it won't happen again, I'm prone to just disconnect the thing. Thats possible isn't it? Right now I have electrical tape over it, but I'm tired of that.
