Interesting thing happened today, while I was at NAPA, picking up some parts for the shop. The manager shared with me an experience he had while at a meeting with all the local Chicagoland dealers. It seems there was a presentation given by a representative of the EPA, and in so many words he explained that by the end of the year, or at the latest the first part of next year, 134-A will be a taxed commodity, much like R-12 was, and it's use will be limited to licensed technicians.

Here we go---our government now will want a piece of the pie, and it will no longer be available to the common man, like at Walmart, and other discount emporiums. He also said that the EPA is finding that 134 is not as environmentally friendly as they suspected, and another new replacement has been developed, and is being tested as we speak.

Oh, God, what next?

So my advise to all of you, who are not licensed AC guys to load up, while the going is good.

Even though I think 134 is garbage, there is going to be another "who know's what" out there, that more than likely will function even less efficiently.

Run, don't walk to Walmart, or whoever else has the stuff cheap, and pigeon hole the 134, while the going is good !!!

Later,
