Hey all ...

PLEASE forgive if I'm breaking sacrosanct list rules, but I recently adopted a 72 Beetle with a rather interesting history. I know that it originally came from the San Luis Obispo area, and then eventually made its way across the continent to NC sometime in the early 90's.

I'm hoping someone on the list might recognize its rather distinctive appearance, or direct me (through friendly help or flamethrower) to any other source of info (aside from the obvious lists which are already receiving a similar message).

Here's a link to a couple of pics put up by the guy I bought it from last month: http://www.unc.edu/~nauta/ If you visit that link you'll get an inkling of why I'm interested in the history...the paint job looks a lot better up close and has some interesting artifacts.

Thanks for your time in reading this. If I owe anyone any bandwidth for this post, please send me a note and I'll forward some over to you right away. :) I now solemnly swear to only post info or questions about my Westy and will refrain from future Beetle posts.

Joe Reed Pittsboro, NC

87 Westy ("Gogh"....you know, my van "Gogh") 72 Cheap Chop Top Beetle ("Airhead")
