Subject: how much did you pay for your vanagon
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

1984 Vanagon GL. Pics at http://y42.photos.yahoo.com/ctbtyper pretty much tell the story. 145,000 miles, "Odo just stopped working right before I put it away for the winter," heads redone a year or two ago, new AFM, short shift kit (?, I've never driven another Vanagon, so I don't know how short my shift is), two extra steel wheels with studded snow tires on them, PO had just put a new stereo with CD player in it, van has the factory rear speakers hanging from the roof, gas tank has the overflow problem (still need to fix that). Nearly zero rust, interior faded but solid, every here and there I find evidence of some work done on the van, but overall I think it is solid. No rust on the underside. I bought it in Ohio in April for US$2650. I've put in a new multifunction switch ($13 on Ebay), new headlights ($26, I think), and that's it as far as cost items go. I fixed the odo, fixed the rear wiper, and have done various other things to make it my own, etc.

Chris
