Karl, I never use a screwdriver with the stainless clamps. A 1/4" drive rachet, with an extension gets the job done fast, and without even getting close enough to get burnt!! The upper pump hose, after all of the aggravation of getting it off ( And I'm not exaggerating, it was a pain) I installed that hose from the top---never even had to get back under the van, and it took 2 minutes to stick it on and clamp it. I was using a spring clamp pliers, and it still wouldn't clear the AC bracket. I finally used a needle nose Vice Grips to hold it open so I could cut the hose from under the clamp. The stainless clamp slipped right in there---no problem A socket on them screw clamps keeps them from turning on you as you are tightening them. I am so glad these spring clamps are not the standard of the industry-----Phooey !!
