I've got an 80 Vanagon and I've been rebuilding the engine. When adjusting the valvles to their initial setting (2 clockwise turns) I looked at the valves through the spark plug hole and noticed the exhaust valve was opening. Will this be a problem? I thought maybe the pushrod tube might not be seated in the lifter correctly. I will check it with a little flashlight tomorrow. In the past when I have done an initial valve adjustment the lifters were a little spongy. This time several of them held their pressure and I could not depress them with my finger. Anyway, I just want to know if I am adjusting them right. Doug 80 Vanagon .................................... Get your own free email account from http://www.popmail.com |
