You might consider taking the Hope-Pemberton Highway Canadian #3 from around Idaho on west. It'll drop you into Vancouver, which is only a short hop from Seattle. This route is much more scenic than driving in on I-90. A campground I've always liked (and unknown to anyone but locals, it seems) is in Gig Harbor (west of Tacoma), and is a bit of a bear to find, but worth it. It's called Kopachuck State Park, and is always pretty quiet and still pretty close to the urban areas (50 miles from Seattle?).
