Hi all, I am trying to extend the rear mount for the sliding door on my 87 GL van. This is being done to clear wider tires and wheels in the rear. Bought and extra rear hinge pin and had it extended an inch. I only needed an extra 1/2 inch anyway. Total cost: one 12-pack of Silver Bullets plus helped someone sell some Dellortos. Now I need to figure out how the rear latch engages. Can anyone advise me on what modification I need to do to the track itself? I will try this during the coming weekend. I'm hoping I can get some tips prior to actually tackling the job. The earlier vans are relatively simple. However, the newer vans have a rear latching system which I still don't understand. I know we have listvendors who have done this. However, I do not expect them to give away their trade secrets. They worked hard at their craft they deserve to make money. However, I am trying to save money so I am trying to do this myself with some help from you folks. I'm happy to share my discoveries with you. BTW one vendor quoted me $200 for the hinge pin which ended up costing me less than $5 to do. I have friends in hot places (welding places).
