Hmmm, this is embarrassing. I don't know the answer, either. I do know,
however, that Bob Donalds wrote me and told me that he installs the .9
senders on all 2.1l engines.
It seems that VW specified the .9 some years and the 1.8 others. Don't know
why, since the engine didn't really change.
