I always have bikes in my van. BMX bikes, yep 20 inchers, flipped upside
down in the "way back" behind the back seat and over the engine. I can fit
six back there pretty easily. Flip upside down and alternate which way the
handlebars face, right-left-right etc, then put a lock cable through all
bikes and lock to the metal handle on the back of the seat. If I am parked
and leaving the bikes in, I usually cover them all with a blanket. Just a
few weeks ago I drove all the way to Springfield, IL for a race with 5 bikes
fully assembled in the way back and 5 people plus luggage in the van. You
may be able to fit a mountain or road bike this way if you take off the
front wheel.
bye,
Kim
