I'm working my way through my list of repairs...and I'm confused by the wiring diagrams in the benltley book. I'm laboring on an '80 westy (air cooled) and am just about to install a *cheap* stereo, louder horn, and a secondary battery. First, however, I thought I'd learn what's there, how to read the wiring schematics,...start small and work my way there. As I was ripping out 2+ full sets of speaker wire and other mystery DPO wiring, I noticed that the cigaret lighter didn't seem to work...great first project.

So, page 97.16 of the bentley shows the cig lighter on track 71. What is confusing me is the fuse. I started this project with a blown 8A fuse in slot #7 (counting from the left). I replaced this with an 8A fuse and then hooked up the two wires to the cig lighter, with the lighter piece taken out. pfft. blew the fuse in slot #7.

Q: Why am I blowing fuse #7 when the schematic shows "S8"? Doesn't "S8" mean fuse#8? Q: 8A seems awfully small for a cig lighter...any I misreading the diagram?
