My 84's top grill has 3 twist-clips along top. Turn these and the grill folds down (don't let go or it'll fall off) and lifts out; lots of room in there to hide keys, stash, girlfriend, whatever. You'd need to carry a short screwdriver or similar implement, or modify the screws so they can be turned by fingertip.
