Subject: Fuel pump woes (me and my fantastic luck)
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

I've been having intermittent problems trying to start my vanagon - it would crank and never turn over. Over the past couple of days, I've noticed a thhhhhhh-zit-thhhhhhh-zit-zit-thhhhhh sound from the fuel pump. Today, I was sitting at a light and my westy died. After sitting at the intersection a few minutes trying to crank her up, a cop came by and said I needed to get my van out of the road. He called a wrecker who towed the van about 100 yards to a parking lot (and in the process, majorly bent my bumper...). When I turn the ignition so all the dash lights come on, I no longer hear the wierd fuel pump sound (and nothing at all)....should I be able to hear the fuel pump at this point? Like a hum? If I need to replace the fuel pump - who's the fastest out there that can get me one? I'm stranded and this is just another exciting episode in my road-trip that should never have been! Thanks for any help, Alan "negative karma" Watts
