Great idea -- and if we need a basic server to handle the POP (just to keep things separate and tidy) I'll donate something from my closet...wouldn't take much of a machine anyway...could recycle the old server?

Well, that plus my $10.

How about adding a POP server to vanagon.com and offering email service in exchange for an annual donation to the list? Then we could all get vanagon.com addresses! Imagine $10 each times even half the membership would get $5000 per year into the list account.

The best option for free E-mail is Microsoft or Juno but as the screw turns we'll all get it at some point. There is no such thing as free and we all know it. Juno and Go.com has sold my name to every telephone marketing company in 42 States. They fill up my mail box and call me selling cellular, trucks, vacations and even casinos send Freebie deals. I'm glad that I have options, even if they aren't the options I'd choose, just supposing I had a choice. I use my principal ISP mail box for the *For Profit and Friends and Family*, every thing else drops into freebie boxes that I can either use or ignore since my investment is nil and that is the only way to get off some mailing list; just vaporize into cyber space and after the box gets to its max for a week or two the mail server vaporizes your box and you're free at last.
