Sophisticated awning -- Phooey! A simple blue tarp, a six foot length of PVC conduit cut length-wise to hold the tarp to the rain gutter, three poles -- two outer corners and one middle-of-the-tarp -- made of electrical EMT conduit, some tent rope, and a couple tent pegs, and Bob's your aunt -- you've got a cheap awning. No drilling and bolting. Sets up in three to five minutes. Total cost: $12.95 for the tarp (all other material was liberated from job sites, relatives, and a next door neighbor). Pretty? Nope -- not even close. Sophisticated? Only in it's simplicity. Quality of parts? First rate - when compared to duct tape and bailing wire.

Subject: Shady Boy Awning

I went to visit Wolfgang yesterday to pick up my awning, which he installed for me.

It's all it's made out to be, and deserves the high marks other list members have given it. It's my kind of camping product: sophisticated design, high quality, light weight, and utterly simple to use. The materials used and the fabrication of the parts reminds me of the products I saw at the aerospace manufacturing facilities I used to call on.

Two thumbs up!

P.S.: I have an 8' RV awning I'm going to sell, pmail me if interested.
