Subject:      2.1L Main Bearing Problem
Content-Type: multipart/alternative;

I am trying to rebuild an engine for a 1990 Vanagon. I cannot find a sourc for the main bearings. I would guess most of you know that the main bearings are in short supply now. My dealer tells me that VW lists only 10 red sets and no blue sets available in the country.

Has anyone found an alternate source of supply? Can the bearing shells be rebuilt by plating or flame spraying a new babbit layer on them?

Any ideas or leads appreciated. Walter E. Stephens ACS - AeroCrafters Supply POB 455 Langley, WA 98260 (360) 221-5039 www.acs-aerocrafters.com
