I did it once (on my own) using stock VW/Westy parts (1983.) The seal for the luggage rack section is not too hard to replace since the whole cap can be lifted off the bodywork a bit. The main top seal took a lot of effort - be aware of the ambient temperature when you do it - if it is too cool the rubber will be stiff and hard to slip into place, but if it is too hot it will stretch in length and there will be loops and bumps that are hard to push into place. I ended up cutting a section out and used black silicon to patch everything up - not pretty, but it works. Be very careful at all of the right angle corners. Having a helper would be useful...
