Hi all, my Dad's 87' westy's power stering rack is leaking from the "steering gear pinion shaft." The Bentley says on page 48.17 that if it is leaking at this location to "replace seal and "o" rings." I can't seem to find where in the Bentley it is shown how to do this. There is a cross section diagram on 48.6 but nothing of greater detail. The rack itself is not leaking, so is it a big deal to replace the leaking seals in the valve houing without removing the whole rack from the van? Where do I find the instructions? Down at the Library in the reserve section's Mitchel manuals? Do I have to buy a whole rebuild kit or can I just match the "o' rings and seal down at an industrial bearing supply place? Or do VW suppliers sell just the "o" rings and seal to do the job? Thanks, Kevin Dawson |
