no, no, no! *S* the protection plate described in the tech manual replaces the" noise capsule" and connects to the already-in-place muffler heatshield. The removal of the "noise capsule" seems to be verboten in Germany, probably for the reason that it reduces external noise from the engine (doesn't seem to havre much effect on engine noise within the van). The muffler heat shield is retained in the modified set-up. Alistair
