As far as I can tell, Michelin is NOT making this tire anymore.

In fact, according to a salesperson at George Oren tires, in Oakland, CA, no one makes reinforced 205/70/14 tires anymore. They specialize in hard to find tires and wheels, and had only two MXTs left. I bought 'em, and had the luck of finding two more at another local dealer, who said that these tires were "backordered". I cannot see why they would turn away a sale, if they could get more of these.

I searched the web sites of the makers listed at the Vanagon.com site, and at several online dealers. No such beasts as the 205/70/14 reinforced exist. Maybe I just fell into a black hole looking for these tires. Maybe it's because they *are* black holes (sorry!).

Else, next time I need tires, time for steel wheels, 15 or 16" wheels, or just the best passenger tires I can find, although the reinforced sidewalls increase handling as well as safety.

Comments? A souce of these elusive rubber doughnuts?

Anyone know for certain if Michelin is still manufacturing the MXT 205/70R14 R? According to my tire retailer in Milwaukee he says that this tire is no longer available. This seems to contradict some of the postings I have read since some listees seem to find this tire.
