Subject: Having lots of trouble finding tires-an update.
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" ; format="flowed"

After spending a good part of the morning calling tire dealers in the Milwaukee area I cannot find a reinforced sidewall tire for my vanagon in the 205R14 size. Michelin customer service called me back and said Michelin has ceased production of the Michelin MXT and the Agilis. He did not know if they have any intention of supplying these tires again. In the end he said Michelin has no tire that would be appropriate for the vanagon. The MXV4 is not a good tire for the vanagon per this Michelin rep even though Michelin and some of the internet tire suppliers list it as OEM.

Yokohama's are still available but only in a size smaller than 205--either 185 or 195. These tires have a reinforced sidewall as have already been mentioned on vanagon.com.

Does anyone know if the 185 or 195 tire size will fit properly on the Vanagon aluminum alloy rims? --
