Mahle and 40 wt (straight)...at 20-50 the light came on at idle, even in
town; so I beefed up the viscosity a bit.

I discovered this after hooking up a mechanical/oil fed gauge.

I bought the van knowing it was weak at the OP gauge/light.  5k later it
runs great and is definitely a rebuild candidate.
  The van ran great for the 600 mile trip...light came on at idle after it
warmed up...stayed at 19-20 # (VDO) for the whole trip.

Ran quiet and smooth....no problem mang!
