Subject: Car buyer's inspection
Content-Type: text/plain

Ok, it looks like things are moving forward with my potential '83 purchase. I'm lined up to have the car taken to a mechanic, I'm wondering what are some specifics to check out?

Obviously they look at the usual stuff (compression, tune up parts, linkages and all that) but was wondering if there is a specific water-cooled checklist. These things scare me a bit I must admit, my old aircooleds were much more simple to inspect. The van does not have A/C, unsure if it has PS or not (was it optional?). Is there a method of examining the cooling system?

Thanks in advance...

-Craig
