Rich,

I was fortunate to get a nice streak and chip free used windshield for FREE. It took me 15 minutes to take out the old cracked windshield. Another 5-10 minutes to clean the glass for the rubber that I was reusing. I used a razor blade to clean the edge.

No lubricant on the glass and rubber contact. WD40 on the rubber where it meets the metal. Putting in the new one took about 5 minutes with a second person pressing on the outside while I used the tried and true string trick (actually a thin cord). Seeing the cord pull in the rubber is so easily almost got me giggling like a little girl/boy in delight.

I suppose it isn't for everybody. I used to think it wasn't for me until I tried it. I have since bought a spare windshield for $25 for my next adventure. I just hope I don't break it before I need it.
