Ugh. I had to look high and low to find a stock replacement for my '81. I went through probably 5 of them before finding the correct one. Personally, I wouldn't take his word for it. Also, the outside is not always the same, I found after putting in several different ones that they are quite different. The vacuum canister is on different sides on some of them for one thing, that fact drove me nuts for a while because I just couldn't find the right one that would fit correctly.
