Those filters are sold at most FLACs like Pep Boys(i buy them there) etc and cost $4-5. They were standard filters for air-cooled Vanagons. VW wasn't sure about using upstream filter but made plastic filter serving as an adapter between fuel tank outlet and pump. Leon 85 Subwagen Westy
