Rick, I had the same thing happen on my '84 two weeks ago.  It was very hot
day, and engine started dying once I went from freeway to local streets.
The only problem that I could find was dirt on the contacts in the connector
between the FI cable and ECU.  I ran the same route today as it was also
very hot.  No trace of the problem.
