I've got an 81 Westy with the 2000cc Air Cooled engine that has a slight mystery in the brake system. The brakes work good when they are applied in normal driving, good hard pedal, good braking but the brake pedal seems to drop after the car comes to a full stop. The brakes have been bled, fluid changed completely. Rear brakes have been cleaned and adjusted. Master cylinder replaced. I'm suspecting that the check valve in the booster vacuum line that resides in the engine compartment is prematurely un-checking. Is there a way to test this valve? The engine idles at about 800 rpm but sometimes vaselatates down to 600 rpm.
