Well, I did it again... I bought another Vanagon, this makes 9-10 in the last 10 years with 4 of them still here... With the new addition one has to go, so I'm delivering my '82 down to it's new owner tomorrow The new beasty is an '83.5 water-cooled Westy... Currently has 195K on it altho the heads have been replaced ( I have a receipt showing they were done at 119K, and fella I bought it from says it was supposedly rebuilt again at 150-160K) It has rust on both front doors at the handles, at the front lower sliding door jamb, and on the drivers side below & around the utility ports. Luckily I have an '84 parts van with all the sections I'll need straight and unrusted Needs a couple new exhaust pipes, and one new brake line New canvas at some point within last couple of years, and it was painted a nice beige metallic (including poptop) over the OE cream yellow. Has 4 OE Basket-style hubcaps One really nice feature is it came with ALL the original manuals; Westy supplement, Owner's manual, and Dometic manual, along with all the stuff for the hardwired (and currently deactivated) Motorola cell phone. All for the grand sum of $2300... This does mean that at some point very soon my other '83.5 will be up for sale... If anyone is interested give me a shout for details... Thanks for listening... had to tell somebody who would understand my excitement! JonR NH area LiMBO rep |
