A couple of years ago, I say a guy trying to take off a knock-off wheel on a TR-3 by striking the spinner with a rubber mallet. Last I heard, he is still at it. Count your blessings; for this task, a rubber mallet is as useless as tits on a boar hog. As Karl said, you need a big beater, one about 2 to 4 lbs. With that in hand, strike the outer diameter smartly towards the centerline of the van, NOT away from it. The drum will pop off. Just be sure to aim your blow well and do not be afraid to put some smoke into it. Others have said that sriking a heavy drift placed beside the center hole will have the same effect.

You need a star wheel tool or else a flat screwdriver which has had its tip heated and bent.
