If it works and is not noisy or vibrating, it will probably last. I've had both good and bad rebuilds. If the last a few weeks, they will usually last a while.

Well,

The alternator finally died on our '90 Carat. The 4 hour trip was aborted after one hour, and the van had to come home 68 miles on a rollback. AAA Gold just paid for itself for the next couple of years. I suppose 11 years from an alternator isn't bad, I just didn't like when and where it chose to sieze up. I couldn't wait and order a new Bosch one, so I had to get a generic rebuild from the FLAPS and put it in myself Saturday night. Does anyone have any experience with rebuild alternators? Will this one make it 11 years, or is it going to die in 2?

Thanks, Michael Townsend Durham NC
