The next time someone tries the ODO fix forthe shaft, would you try scoring the driveshaft as previously mentioned, but rather than super glue or epoxy, try this Devcon product available at Wal mart and I've even seen it at Walgreens(for $1.50 more per tube). It's called Plastic Welder and it's a methyl methacrolate based glue. Squirted equally out of a syringe as most epoxies are, this stuff really smells like hell(however Dentists love the smell), but I have found it to bond to many plastics epoxy and super glue fail on. Anothe glue to try would be Devcon's urethane based syringe adhesive(forget the brand name) or if you wlant to pay $28 for 4 oz.(a lifetime supply for speedo/odos), get the Scotchweld urethane(3532, I think). Polarizing the polyethylene plastic part(if it is LDPE or HDPE) with the inner cone of a propane torch flame will increase the chances of it bonding to the metal. This low technology is the only way to effect a repair on one of those Polyethelyne Old Town Canoes and get it to stick(an aquiantence of mine claims he got something else to stick to polyethyleneonce, but it turns out that it was of those inflatable girlfriends)

Back to the topic at hand, someone let me know if any or all ofthe3se adhesives work. The plastic welder is like $2.30 at Wally World.
