Subject: FI question....white or gray smoke at start up
Comments: To: type2@type2.com

Volks, When I start my newly rebuilt 2 liter after it has been sitting a few hours I get a huff of whitish/grayish smoke that smells like fuel.

Any ideas what this is, or how to stop it? Leaky injector?

Also, should the fuel system maintain pressure when the key is off, or does it go down to zero. I guess what I am asking is does the system stay pressurized, or does it bleed down to no pressure rapidly. On my van it goes down to zero rapidly, and I am wondering if this indicates some sort of vacuum leak.
