According to the AAA affiliate CSAA (California State Auto Association) they will tow the same vehicle TWICE on the same incident. I just used them. With my AAA+ hat's 100 free miles and $5 per mile thereafter. Regular membership only gets you 5 miles free. Some tow operators may cut you a break. I few miles here and there doesn't matter much.

Once upon a time AAA+ was 125 miles free. They changed it to 100 miles not too long ago.
