If you go to your local hardware store they sell what we call a dumbbell in the plumbing trade that looks just like a dumbbell. You'll see what I mean at the store. It holds the drain with tabs on the bottom of it. Then you use a channel lock to loosen the nut underneath. Just remember to put plumbers putty on the new trap.
