Subject: AC diagram wrong in Bentley Danger!
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Since I have only been on this list for about 6 months, I'm not sure if this has been stated before. If so, it probably deserves repeating anyway.

Please note that in Bentley (80 thru 91 version) the diagram for the Vanagon air conditioning system on page 87.2 has the labels for the high pressure hose and the low pressure hose REVERSED. The one labeled 11 going directly to the compressor is actually the low pressure hose. The hose labeled 10, between the pressure switches and the evaporator is actually part of the high pressure side. Perhaps this has been corrected in later printings, but mine is clearly backwards. The note on page 87.3 contradicts this incorrect diagram and the correct schematic drawing on page 87.7 does also. Read the whole section before you do anything. If a person simply believed the drawing on page 87.2 and connected a can of refrigerant to the high side it would very likely explode.

Take care, Larry A.
