Hello listees, While replacing all front suspension bushings on my 85 Westy i run into a problem. The strut bars, aka radius rods(according to Bentley) were misaligned badly and worn out spacer sleeves all the way thru and also enlarged large holes where they are attached to body with large rubber bushings. It would be impossible to install new bushings because of that misalignment. I am trying to find VW mechanic who could help but no luck here in Los Angeles. In fact when i mention strut bar or radius rod they don't even know what i am talking about. I know some of you replaced bushings on your Vanagons. Can anyone recall any problem with strut bar being not in the center of the hole and problem installing bushing? Unusual wear like on mine? The only way strut bar can be moved is by adjusting tie rod but i would like to hear your opinions before i start screwing with tie rods. TIA Leon |
