Read the fine print in the manual.  You will find that the 80 pound rating
is when the booster's integrated 5-point harness is removed and the child
is restrained only by the regular vehicle 3-point belt in front of him /
her.  The booster only serves to properly position the vehicle belt, and
requires you have a shoulder belt in that position of your vehicle.  You
will find that the specifications on using the integrated 5-point harness
top out at 40 pounds.  (Height restrictions also apply, so that makes it
even more complicated.)

Even harnesses can fail if their capacity is exceeded, though.  Just ask
Mrs. Earnhardt.
