I live in Georgia. During a three hour drive (headed north) with a broken air conditioner, the temperature inside the bus measured at the cab ceiling just above the rear view mirror reached a high of 108° F (40° C).

Our cat was unable to deal with the heat, and we were forced to stop to receive emergency veterinarian services. Luckily, he survived the experience, and since, In our experience, there's no way that the AC can be made reliable, (4 separate failures, three expensive) we no longer attempt cross-country trips in summertime.
